Harper harps

Will these guys at least shut up now? They can cry hoarse with a belief that they are a superior race, how ever much facts scream other wise. The statement from Harper that he should not have applied the laws of cricket betrays a mind set that is racist and colonial.  What does an umpire mean when he says that he should not have applied the laws of cricket to Indians? Is he saying that the recipient will be the deciding factor of the frame work of law? Utterly flawed approach. Is it not a trifle strange that he speaks after being exposed and then cries foul? The premise of the criticism by the Indian team was the way he made decisions in the Test match.  The only referral point is the said test match and his performance. Let men in power learn to take criticism.

It is indeed strange that the player is required to shut up and the Umpire can talk his lungs out. Such differing standards makes a joke of the ICC. What the West Indies players think of their Indian counter parts and what the entire Indian sport loving people think of cricket players from his country are totally off the mark.  It is at best contextually in poor taste.

Oh so the Umpire believes that charging at the Umpires while making an appeal is against the spirit of the game.  Taken.  Wrong decisions is not part of cricketing spirit- though it may be part of cricket lore and the times when Indians were push overs.  Today we are NOT. In case we are talking about the spirit of the game, let’s first state that no mistake can be defended with attitude.  Let’s get that straight Mr. Harper.  He chooses to discuss the Virat Kohli dismissal and most would say he was wrong.

For a Happy Harper, the cricketer must silently take his blunders, the commentary team must be silenced, the captain must be polite, the team must be civil and he can make mistakes – albeit with the frequency of Indians eating beef burgers – all when he is trigger (finger ) happy.

Harper don’t harp on your mistakes. Yes we all make them with or without the oftenness of some community eating something. We also defend our actions but not when we are caught with our pants down.  Timing is vital-surprising you have not noticed or learnt that from a man called Raina who essayed such a wonderful sense of the same when your fingers were itching.

Harper may refer to the certification of the match referee but we back home cannot forget how he handed over special treatment to Sachin Tendulkar at Adelaide in 1999. Never mind he regretted the accuracy of his finger lifting habit then. We have a habit to overlook a fault.  When there is consistency is faulting and then attitude, it becomes a matter of worry.  Why, can we forget that Praveen was called for stepping into the danger area in the first test?  Last evening television replays showed Ravi Rampaul guilty of the same act.  He was not called. Yet Indians are blamed for lacking in spirit. Harper, you need to be sharper.

Farewell from the elite club.
