Cong men petition against corruption!

Even as The Baba Ram Devs and the Anna Hazares are targeting corruption interesting questions on how to handle the menace is surely to rise. Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu have all had huge scandals that truly undermine the common man’s confidence in the system.

Two congress MLCs KR Amos and Yadav Reddy have petitioned the AP High court seeking a full fledged investigation against the affairs of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and the various companies that have invested in his ventures as also the chartered accountants of his firms for various offences including money laundering .  Interestingly the writ petition suggests  that huge sums were given by the YSR government to the ‘centre’. At a time when the Congress in the state is a house divided, it is not surprising that as they trade allegations truth in some form comes out.  A reading of the petition- running into about 100 pages interestingly points to two congress functionaries faulting not just the man who was and the lad who is ambitious but treads on the toes of the mighty.  Pure coincidence.  None the less, the state of affairs.

Amos and Yadav Reddy would state  that  four companies started after YSR became the Chief Minister and they were flooded with huge investments.  “The  chain transaction of promoting companies and attracting investments is possible only because all the prospective investors are the beneficiaries of munificence of YS government ,” The petitioner also contextually state that that the Central Government  ‘depended then solely on him (YSR)  for its existence  and ‘continuance in terms of electoral strength and canalization of funds for political purposes’  It is further alleged that YS Jaga in abetted by Galli Janardhan Reddy ‘across the state border’.  Referring to Ms. Sandur Power Company the petitioners allege that the company which was defunct till 2004 received Rs. 125 crores in 2005 from two untraceable investment companies’ and that ‘all recipients of YSR government largesse stood in line to pick up its shares with huge premiums enabling YS Jagan to float  series of companies .’

The Cong MLCs also state that the situation reminds one of the scenario in the Centre. “The 2G Spectrum. CWG IPL” everything is allowed to grow despite clear evidence poignantly establishing the failure of constitutional authorities” Surely in an attempt to point out the erring Jagan the MLCs unwittingly reflect on other players and if only our MLCs ponder if there is anything common to the various scandals, some names may stand out. It is an old theory of criminal investigation: see who the ultimate beneficiaries of the crime are and where rest the advantages.

The courts will soon start some judicial review of the allegation.  In fact another bench is already dealing with similar allegations raised by another Congressman- Textile Minister Shanker Rao. One would soon begin to believe that the party is full of honest men and there is a fight corruption brigade in the Congress.  Cong men against corruption.  I hop I have not got my spelling wrong!!
