Unpretentious Entertainment

Buddha Hoga Tera Baap:Starring: Amitabh Bachchan, Hemamalini, Sonu Sood, Prakash Raaj, Sonal Chauhan, Chamee. Director: Puri Jagannadh.  In the midst of two ghastly bomb blasts care the cause Kabeer (Prakash Raj) and ACP Karan (Sonu Sood). The clash moves to the next level when Kabir gets killer with repute and a matching past Vijju(Amitabh) from his Paris pub to kill the ACP. The ACP has a love interest in Tanya (Sonal Chauhan) who in turn has a friend Amrutha ( Charme) The friend’s mom is Kamini (Raveena Tandon) who entertains an undying infatuation for Vijju. Like ever, the script has two parallels unfolding: the love story and the hate destruction. The script moves into different incidents all to show case that Bachchan in his chronologically advanced stage can still do what he said or did with the likes of Manmohan Desai and Prakash Mehra with the same aplomb. To the cineaste this is no great invite. A further probe would reveal that AB has left behind his sensitive Paa and is out to renew his angry image. Narcissism could be the bane of any actor. Let’s not miss the twists of the script. It is not before long that the protagonist plays cupid for the targeted police officer and also his unknown security guard. Half time and we have the aged gracefully Sita (Hemamalini) playing Maa. Not the Nirupa Roy and Sulochana variety. She is the graceful charming pretty type (No wonder film makers have more scripts for her than for Easha Deol). Maa runs into Paa who has not got over his fun filled moments with his girl friend. He infiltrates into the enemy camp with ease. Just when the ACP is in hospital fighting for life, he rushes to the villains den and performs the smart act of shooting all and every one. Soon the script is exhausted, the reels are and you wonder what all this about the Big B returning to his old image!! BHTB offers some pleasant screen moments from Sonu Sood, Sonal Chauhan, Charme, Prakash Raj and Hema Malini. They all find a place in a script exclusively meant and designed for Big B. Big B is of course full of himself. A lot is said of him, for him and by him. Raveena Tandon looks gorgeous and hams to the high skies. The film is for the Bachchan fans who generally accept any thing he does. Puri Jagannadh throws in a bit of nostalgia, an item number and a loud Bachchan. The only screaming virtue the film has is that it is unpretentious..
