Kanulu Kanulanu Dhochaayante Movie Review

Half hour into the film all you get to seeing is 2 guys living life king size, pursuing 2 gals. You wish very hopefully that they kick start the narrative. The two street smart guys suddenly change gears. They are up to phishing and altering motherboards of laptops. Actually, the guys seem to be doing very well given their lifestyle. Enter the bad guys and the Deputy Police Commissioner. Our guys: Sidharth (Dalquer Salman) and Kallis (VJ Rakshan) and gals Meera (Ritu Varma) and Shreya (Niranjani Ahathian). The cop in place: DCP Pratap (Gautam Menon). The guys know you should not be in the same ‘trade’ for long. Now shift to ‘product lifting’ and sales from consumer products lifted from cars. In short, the two guys are white collar offenders. They have to get into a mess. The guys – gals have a huge ethical difference. While the guys are tech savvy white-collar offenders, the girls are orphans living a decent life. One out from an orphanage and another the daughter of an alcoholic. They plan to move to Goa a city with a floating population. No more shortcuts: clean life. Half time with reality. Not really. The police have them. then comes the twist you were waiting for and even guessed if a fiction buff.

Trailing are the cheated and the police. When the premise of love is based on cheating, it is not going to be easy. To say anything more would be telling too much. Let us leave the storyline at this stage. What are the guys and gals up to. Love for money. A 15 day route to Shangri-La.

The film is extremely well notched up. Engaging. Also the film maker Desingh Periyasamy plays his cards well. The over two hour film could have been shortened and the narrative would have been far more effective. Given that it is an offering from where innovation is a surprise, you know where to place the praise for the bilingual. Crop the first 10 to 15 minutes and at hand could be the engrossing thriller it does turn out to be.

Another aspect that works well for the film is the cast. The gals have a style of contrast. Perfect tandem. Ritu Varma and Niranjani get into the differently shaded characters with ease. Resultantly, they add up to the narrative credibility. There is Gautam Menon as the police officer who is credible. The stereotype, but does not go overboard. Keep an ear for the dialogues and one liners. They add up to a good sum.

Then the mainstay of the crime tale: Dalquer  Salman and VJ Rakshan. Rakshan is the window to all comedy guys in Tollywood. He’s so spirited, with a fine sense of timing. Then there’s half the film: Dalquer, effortless, born to play roles. Just what the director wants and the audience should be gleeful about.

Kanulu Kanulanu Dhochaayante is a pleasant entertainer. Good on the eye. Fine on sensitivity. Watch it. Have fun.
