Many years ago, in fact a few
decades ago, a famous production house made a quick thriller without songs. The
thriller was a huge success and kept the audience guessing. The cast too added
to the thrill and the creative quotient of the then thriller. Fast forward.
There is this school of cinema that believes in seducing the audience with the
belief that crude sex and oomph sells. There is the belief that the audience is
silly and stupid and would gape at anything oversized, obese, and
exhibitionist. Alongside the same set of assumers also believe that the average
audience is shockingly stupid with the IQ of a moron and can be entertained
with juvenile stuff. And then there are those who believe that cinema is an
easy way of making money and all you need is a six pack guy with a few
oversized gals willing to portray guts rather than talent. Throw in as many
songs in as many locales and squeeze a story in its midst and you have a
script, story and worse still a film in place.
There are film makers who would use any trick in the trade to make a film and
then leave to God to get them running to the bank. This is the kind that should
well take the film maker to the Debt Recovery Tribunal. The moment the film
rolls and we have the designer title on screen you know you are in for some
violent meaning less stuff. Cajoled with the length of the film and the style
that goes into the titles, hopes gets the better of common sense and you watch
on. Blunder. Suicidal.
There is this guy who escapes from jail Jagan (debutant-Shiva). The first few
minutes are completely dedicated to thrills, fights and the like and how he
escapes an entire police contingent including baldie inspector (RK). The ease
with which he deals with the goons you would think our hero is a trained
fighter – but no he is a painter. He has a temper and is brutishly crude and
rude to all. He has these siblings Sandhya (Sarayu) and Jhansi (Sruthi) both in
love with the rude guy. He gets involved in the murder of his wife Sandhya. On the
run he lands up in this huge mansion and is sheltered by Jyothi ( Sanjana
Galrani). Reels later the climax and then comes the relief. Two factors are
recommendatory in the film: the performance from the ever reliable MS Narayana
though predictable as the drunkard and the innovative titles style.
Apart from the Director Venkanna Babu Yepuganti who is also liable – oh! sorry
responsible for the story, script, dialogues, mayhem, boredom, etc. it is the
debutant actor Shiva who seriously needs to take a relook at his career choice.
His presence before the camera is premature and adventurous. This is a kind of
activity that needs to be nipped at the bud. The film was initially to be
titled: Jagan NIrdoshi. True. Venkana Doshi, Shiva Doshi, Jagan Nirdoshi.
