Adirindi Telugu Movie Review

Adirindi:

After creating a controversy on the GST in Tamil (Mersal), the movie releases after some time in the dubbed version. The story of free medical treatment in India. Atlee visits the age-old debate of corporate hospitals vs government hospitals with a hope of finding a solution.
The movie starts with the abduction of ambulance driver, a medical-broker, a hospital HR and a surgeon. In walks Police Officer Venkat (Satyaraj) to investigate the kidnappings. He zeros in on a suspect Dr Bhargav (Vijay) and arrests him. He is taken to an undisclosed location and is asked the basic questions – who, what and why. Here starts the story of Dr Bhargav – rewind. He is famous in his locality and is fondly called Rs 5 Doctor as he charges only Rs 5 to treat his patients. He is accompanied by his trusted compounder (Vadivelu). His contribution to humanity is recognised and is invited to Paris to be honoured. Doing the honours is none other than Dr Arjun (Hareesh Peradi) a corporate doctor. Giving him company is his assistant Anu Pallavi (Kajal Agarwal). Bhargav befriends Anu as a magician and invites her and her boss to his magic show (a magician too??!!). During the course of the magic show, Bhargav murders Arjun and escapes.
Back to Chennai, the State Health Minister (Rajendran) honours Bhargav and advices him to run for election for the Indian Medical Counsel.
Tara (Samantha) a host of a chat show approaches Bhargav for an interview and that interview is seen by Dr Daniel Arocgyaraj (S J Surya) who runs a chain of corporate hospitals. Daniel orders his henchmen to kill Bhargav. While that order is being carried out, in comes the magician Vijay (Vijay in a double role!!) to save Bhargav. Back to the present. The magician Vijay tells the officer where to find the kidnapped people and informs them that they are running short of time to save the kidnapped people. The police fail to save the victims. Vijay now informs Venkat that his mission is not yet over and using a magic trick to transfer his hand cuffs to Venkat (a la the English movie Now You See Me), escapes. Bhargav tracks down Vijay and is informed by Vadivelu that Vijay is Bhargav’s younger brother. The flashback reveals another twist where you have Vijay Bhargav (Vijay) a local Dalapathi and his wife Aishwarya (Nithya Menen) who build a hospital for the poor in their village and hand it over to Dr Daniel only to be backstabbed and the reason for Vijay’s murder spree.
Will Vijay succeed in his mission for free health care is what the remaining story is all about. Vijay is Vijay and carries all his roles with ease. Kajal and Samantha do not have much to do and play their roles perfectly whenever on screen. Nithya Menen doesn’t disappoint either. Sathyaraj plays a forgettable role after his more successful outing. SJ Surya portrays his role well. The movie completely belongs to Vijay and he delivers.
Watch the film if you are a Vijay fan and don’t find limbs and bodies flying around. If you have something better to do, well you get the drift!!

Abhinav.
