Allari Naresh even within the
defined pigeon holes of Tollywood functions in a very specific territory.
Unfortunately, when Gamyam and Roommates came a cropper he decided to stick to
basics- his basics. To be fair to him, his films come with a caveat. However he
needs to add to his templates. The restriction is not so much the genre as the
space thereof that should trouble an artist. While one makes the choice with
eyes open you realise the artist has chosen. Successor artists have made this
choice and the audience has paid for it.
Intlo Daiyyam Nakem Bhaiyyam is formulistic to a fault and tells the tale with
not an iota of freshness. It is worrying contextually that film makers are so
archive striken and so lacking in courage to make bold either thematically or
even with treatment. Even with the basics they are so self-made and unlearnt
that their contributions add but to the din of cinema.
The latest comic cap (?) with discouraging footfalls is about the haunted house
purchased by Gopala (Rajendra Prasad) after a painful prologue. He arrives with
brothers Chalapayi (Chalapathi) and Darling Sreenu and their spouses. Gopal and
his estranged wife (Pragati) meet up for the daughter’s impending wedding. The
new house is however haunted by a seismic ghost whose full time job is to
arrive and satiate herself by the shrieks of her victims. To scare is the only
job of the ghost Swapna (Mouryani). A three member band group – Naresh,
Shakalaka Shanker and Chammak Chandra are imposter exorcists. They are in it to
raise ten lakhs to conduct a surgery for a dying orphan and to pay up the blood
thirsty money lender- not to be confused with the modern day financial
institutions. The Band Exorcists are in it to enable the musical romance of
Naresh with Indumamthi (Kruthika Jayakumar). Naresh is connected to ghost and
the house is haunted with a cause. How and why? Wait at your own patience
quotient to explore. The post break narrative gets worse. Brahmanandam enters
as an Inspector. Our ghost with immediate cosmetic surgical needs is at her
bouncy shrieking peek. Everyone in the film and those watching are victims. The
two women in Naresh’s life have a one sided fight. The ghost has an upper hand.
Her spirit enters whoever she wills and whenever and then it is bone breaking
see. Tired in your bones you wonder why even ghosts see reason but film makers
don’t. You then join the guy in the preface who meaningfully asks: Illu
chupedtananni torture chupedatao emmi!
Rating: 2 stars
